A Splice Service Technician in Massachusetts recently requested and was tested for Lead Levels in their Blood. That Member has asked for anonymity but has graciously allowed for his results as well as other correspondence they received to be shared so that others can view for themselves and make an informed decision whether or not to request your own test (if applicable). For those Members who potentially exposed to Lead during the course of their work, Blood Lead Level testing is available by request. While Verizon is working to have a link readily available to those who want to be tested it is recommended that you ask your Supervisor for the test information. You should receive a Company E-Mail with a link that will allow you to register for the test. After completing the request on that link you should be contacted to provide further information, i.e. last date worked in an area where Lead is present, in order to establish if you qualify for the Blood Lead test. Currently you must have been in such a work location within 60 days prior to request/test. If you have any questions please call the Local at 413-734-0863.

Your personal Safety needs to come first.

Below is the communication related to the Member involved. I believe it is very informative in describing the importance of testing for your own Health and Safety.

Fraternally,

John D. Rowley Sr.
