In the case of the Verizon garage located at 111 North Hatfield Road in Hatfield, MA; “because the reports were anonymous there was nothing to follow up on”. Anonymous reports to VZ HR are actually suggested in the Verizon Code of Conduct. So rather than conduct some type of outreach to Employees to inquire, reports are ignored. Other reports were made on the record wherein Employees identified themselves to Verizon Human Resources and no follow up was made. But the person responsible at Verizon Human Resources at that time left the company. So nothing was done.
Verizon’s Director in charge of the SSTs at the Hatfield garage decided to conduct a meeting with the accusers, the accused, Human Resources and other managers in the same room. Those present were told “We have a plan” but no plan was explained. In the end, the manager who told Local 2324 Members to -go ahead and call HR, they love me, I’ll still be here – was proved right.
I can only wonder if the decision was made by an independent party rather than a Director with a 20 year history with the manager in question, may have been different. But that would have required Verizon to abandon it’s long history of circling the wagons. Technology may be advancing, Verizon’s ideology has not.
